The ride starts in the very familiar territory of Forest Grove. From there it heads out to Banks, where it picks up the newly completed Banks-Vernonia trail for some traffic-free riding all the way to Vernonia, our first control. Then, on to Birkenfeld and a climb over the Coast Range to Olney. From there, we make our way out to Fort Stevens State Park via quiet farmland roads gaining information along the way. The route turns south along a very busy 101 and then detours onto the quiet and nearly carfree Miami-Foley road before re-joining 101 towards Tillamook. After some more miles on 101, the route follows Sandlake road into Pacific City, the last supply stop for the day. Back again on 101, the route turns onto Slab Creek Road for the final climb of the day, as well as the day's last info control, then on into the overnight of Lincoln City.
Riders may wish to stay at the Motel 6 where the drop bags will be located. There is a Safeway that is open til 1am nearby.
Day 2 is challenging. After some gradual climbing along the quiet Siletz Hwy out to Siletz and Logsden, the hills get bigger and the grades steeper on the way to Blodgett. There's some gravel thrown in for good measure. From Blodgett, the route travels towards Dallas, then on to Dayton and Lafayette where we'll find familiar roads back into the finish of Forest Grove.
Much of this route is rural and without services. Riders should be prepared with sufficient food and water. Overnight riders in particular will want to carry extra supplies for the long stretch between Lincoln City and Blodgett on which there will be no services during their hours of passage. Cell service is spotty at best (and often non-existent) during the Lincoln City - Blodgett stretch.

(Organizer cut out a few km of "long boring windswept flat sucky section" and
replacing it with a nice trail ride.)
