New Description
Due to a forest fire the State of Oregon has closed
OR 35 indefinitely. We are rerouting the 300k and will get the new route
posted by Monday. The new route will start and end at the Dalles Marina
boat basin as originally planned but the route will cross the Columbia
River and go to Goldendale and follow the edge of civilization over the
raging Klickitat River to Trout Lake. From Trout Lake the route returns
to the Columbia Gorge and follows the river back to the Dalles. The last
100k is an out and back along the scenic Columbia River Highway 30 and
Twin Tunnels State Park to to Hood River. For people who like hills and
scenery, you won't be disappointed. This is the Columbia Hills 300k.
Remainder of page refers to original route.
